TIVOLI WORLD
Arroyo de la Miel, 29630 Benalmadena TEL
TEL(+34) 952 577 016
FAX(+34) 952 445 045

There is a small entrance fee of 500 pesetas, but once inside you can buy tokens for the various rides and attractions. For as little as 1,200 pesetas you can purchase a Super Tivolino token that will give you unlimited access to all the rides in the park. Tivoli World won't appeal to adrenalin junkies and doesn't feature any innovative or unique rides, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for in entertainment. Can-can and flamenco shows as well as music concerts and theatre are all on offer and draw crowds from all over the Costa. Tivoli World also contains many restaurants and many parents take the opportunity to leave their children in the park while they have a meal in peace. Some of the rides are owned and run by independent operators, so you will need a certain amount of cash as well as some Tivoli World tickets. The Bungee Rocket is one of the park's more unique features and catapults participants 120 metres into the air in under two seconds. It's great fun, if a little bit pricey.
Another one of the park's more interesting features is the Tunnel of Terror, where actors jump out and attempt to frighten patrons as they walk through its maze of passage ways.

Tivoli World makes for a great evening out - it doesn't open until around 4p.m. in the afternoon and shuts after 1a.m. in the morning. Children between the ages of five and twelve will love it, although older children will undoubtedly find it an anti-climax compared to parks such as Alton Towers. The shows, however, are well worth the entry fee.

Selwo Costa del Sol

Selwo is the largest man-made nature reserve in Spain, with tens of thousands of acres dedicated to recreating the natural habitats of various exotic species. Located just off the main road to Estepona, the entrance area contains ample parking which is particularly necessary during the summer when hundreds of visitors flock to the park daily. The entrance fee is currently 2,500 pesetas for adults with a discount for groups and children.

Be prepared to walk for a while once inside, as the park's creators have decided to emphasize the natural environment by ensuring a feeling of space which naturally has to be covered if any animals are to be viewed. The park is divided into several zones, each of which features a variety of different animals. The first remarkable area which you will encounter is the lagoon which is populated by exotic birds, including some colorful flamingos. Nearby are habitats suitable for birds and monkeys.

One of the park's most striking man-made features is the bird canyon, a massive enclosed area of hills and plants, within which more than 40 different species of birds live freely. It's an uphill climb and parents with pushchairs may find it tough going. At the top an Indiana Jones-style rope bridge overlooks a huge gorge where water buffalo and llamas graze.

After this you can relax and take an open-air bus to the top of the park. This ride will take you past most of the areas in the park in which you can see, lions, tigers, bears, giraffes and other large mammals. At the top is the visitor' s centre which contains a spacious restaurant. Afterwards take a trip back down the hill and look at the huge pythons and anacondas in the reptile house.

The park is massive and it will take you almost a full day to see everything. Constantly interesting and entertaining there is a lot of walking involved so small children and the elderly might find it too much of a physical challenge. Also there is limited shade so summer visitors should remember to bring along a hat and sun cream.
